Red Zones for outbound & return sections of the routes:

Harbor Dr:  Watch for old railroad tracks.  To safely cross, aim front wheel at 90-degree angle (t-bone technique), if necessary, stop & walk over.
Bikepath:  Watch for riders/walkers. Use extra caution at entrances.
San Miguel/Proctor Valley Rd:  Narrow roads, stay as far to right as possible.  On return section of San Miguel Rd, watch for uneven curb cement on the descent.
Otay Lakes Rd:  Higher vehicle traffic at faster speeds.  Use Extreme caution, stay to right, ride single file.  Don't stop until Rest Stop #3.
6.  Weather:  Current weather forecasts from AccuWeather call for "Plenty of Sunshine", with a high of 68F.  Be sure to arrive with full water bottles.  Water and Vitalyte will be available at all rest stops, so be sure to stay well hydrated.  Limited supplies of ice will be on-hand and is primarily to cool Vitalyte and Water in 5 gallon jugs.  For sanitary reasons, please do not handle ice at the rest stops.   Staff and volunteers will do their best to resupply additional ice if temperatures climb into the 90F range.
7.  Bike Inspection:  All riders must individually insure their bicycle is mechanically sound and equipped with working brakes and fully serviceable wheels and tires.  WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND every rider take their bicycle in for a professional tune-up and safety inspection prior to the ride.  Replace any questionable components, especially tires.  Bike Mobile and World Cycles will be at the Start/Finish on Saturday morning.  At 7:45 A.M. Bike Mobile will move to Rest Stop #1 and will later roam the course.
8.  Full Metric Century Finishers:  Riders completing the 60-mile course need to check in with the DJ at the finish to show validation stamp from the Rest Stop #3 turnaround point.  Your name will be added to the official Full Metric Century Finishers list.   The final list will be displayed on the Shadow Tour website.

9.  Brightroom Photography:  Our good friends from Brightroom will be out on the course all day snapping your pictures, so be sure to say cheese and style for the cameras!

10.  Help Spread the Word:  There is no better way to grow the Festa Metric Century than for registered riders to encourage friends to sign up.  We hope you'll have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable ride.

11.  Post-ride Meal:  All paid riders receive an included post-ride Pasta/Veggie/Fruit Buffet in Little Italy.  Riders finish the ride at the Start/Finish in the south lot of the SD County Offices Bld (closest large parking lot).  From there, walk or ride (about 5 blocks) to Po Pazzo Restaurant at 1917 India St.  The buffet runs 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.  Cost for extra meals is $12 in advance and $15 on Saturday.
