2007 Stagecoach Century Camping Info Email

Information on camping is provided below.  Other specific details of the ride are located on our website under "Specifics" and "FAQ's."

On Friday, volunteers will be at the Ocotillo Community Center all day to help direct campers to the various campsites.

There is a large Bureau of Land Management (BLM) primitive campsite located about 3 miles just off Evan Hughes road heading toward Plaster City.   The BLM campsite is free of charge.

Additionally, heading north on S2 just outside the city limits of Ocotillo, much of the land is available for free primitive camping.  Any improved road is available to set up your RV or campsite.  Be sure to leave no trace.

New for 2007, the community volunteers from Ocotillo is clearing and grading a space for approximately 20 RV campers immediately behind the Octotillo Community Center.  These spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis (no advance reservations.)  These are the most desired camping spaces available, as they are about 50 feet from the Start/Finish.  However, because the campsites are situated behind the Finish Festival/Stage area, with only one way in and out, all RV's will need to stay in place until 6 P.M. on Saturday.  The town also requests campers turn off generators after 8 P.M. Friday night.

Finally, there is a fully remodeled camping resort for tents and full hook-up RV's located on S2 about 36 miles north of Ocotillo, named The Butterfield Ranch Resort.  Their website is www.butterfieldresort.com.  Riders staying overnight Friday at the Butterfield resort, have the option of picking up their packets at the Host Hotel in San Diego Friday afternoon then starting and finishing at the Butterfield Resort, which is on the century route.  The Butterfield resort is offering a 20% discount to Stagecoach Century Riders. That works out to $20/night for RV's and $15/night for tents.  Their telephone is 760-765-1463.
